How to Start GirlRiders’ Rides in Your Area
One of the many great aspects of being a motorcycle rider, is the strong motorcycle community. Riders share more than a common interest, it’s a passion.
I started GirlRiders to find other women that share this passion. It’s great riding with the guys, but finding girl friends who love this sport as much as you, is icing on the cake. The group rides and get-togethers I have had with my local GirlRiders are some of my best riding experiences to date.
The GirlRiders Network wants to help you make this connection with riders in your community. You may be surprised how many women riders are a short ride from you. They may also be looking for the right group, not a club, just ladies who love to ride.
To get you started in the right direction here are a few tips that will help you find other riders and get on the road to an awesome riding season.
4 Easy Steps to Creating a GirlRiders Group Ride
1. Create or Join a GirlRiders Network Group
Go to the Group Page of The GirlRiders Network and join an existing group near your area or create your own. Then invite your friends to join.
2. Get the Word Out
Don’t be shy. Go to bike nights and ask around about riders at local motorcycle shops. Introduce yourself to other riders. Share your GirlRiders Group link or your profile page on your social networks and forums. Start a conversation by showing off your GirlRiders Decal or Patch.
3. Organize Ride/Meet
Plan Your Ride: use a map program such as Google Maps or just go riding and find a route that you like. It does not need to be perfect. Be sure and plan gas / bathroom stops every hour or two. Get tips from others who have led rides or check out How to Lead a Group Ride.
Create an Event: Use GirlRiders Event Feature to create your event. You can include a map to the meet spot, details of the ride and collect RSVPs. You can choose for that event to be available to the entire Network, or single Group. Now post that link on your Group page. Share it your friends on social media, get it on a flyer and tell any GirlRiders you may meet all about your awesome upcoming ride!
Be sure to Include: meet location / address
meet time / KSU (kick stands up) time
ride style / speed / length
any other information, its your ride, let people know what you expect
Post photos and stories on GirlRiders and share on Social Media #GirlRidersNetwork. Did you have an amazing ride and want to get into all the details, request to be a Guest Blogger and your story may be published on The GirlRiders Network! Your adventures may encourage others to do the same. Now, start planning!
